With our project James´Flight we are cross-frontiers in many ways and entering new territories:
1. Making a full HD flight documentary filmIt will be the first flight documentary film in low-altitude along the Way of St. James. Most of the technical camera solutions to avoid vibrations are too expensive for this project. Therefore a completely new type of camera mount has been developed.
2. The flight with a Gyrocopter along the Way of St. James
There has never been such an adventurous flight with a gyrocopter on this most famous pilgrimage way. The route bears many risks. Not only that France is full of no-fly zones, we have the possibility of being punished with prison by flying through it. The weather in the area of the Pyrenees is also a dangerous and unpredictable element. Strong winds and extreme day and night temperature differences are a daily challenge.
3. Realising childhood dreams
We were so emotional by Randy Pausch's Last Lecture: "Achieving Your Childhood Dreams". James´Flight is our first project in which we realise together our childhood dreams and interview people along the way, to realize their childhood dreams.

Saturday, 03/28/09: Near Chemnitz
To be on time in Friedrichshafen for the AERO 2009 tradeshow we had to change our planned route. Instead of flying to Aachen we will flew directly to Friedrichshafen. Today we used the nice weather before noon to fly to a small village east of Chemnitz. Our small gyroplane is parked safely and dry in a hangar. Depending on the weather in the next days we will continue our flight to Friedrichshafen.
Friday, 03/27/09: Lärz-Rechlin (EDAX)
We have been anticipating better weather to come along, at lake Mueritz for more than 7 days now. Only the great people of this region and the fantastic landscape sooths our impatience.

In our current "James´Flight" office lives a heart-warming whistling canary named "Beatle". He got his name not only because of his potential hit songs, furthermore his hairdo reminds us strongly of "The Fab Four". Since we have prepared this website of James´Flight, we’ve tested all videos and made sure that they are all running smoothly. We found out "Beatle", our canary has a definite clear favorite of the videos. We've noticed that Beatle is literally overwhelmed and wildly enthusiastic of the soundtrack of "Robbi, Tobbi und das Fliewatüüt". Then he dances excitedly and paces around in his cage and sings out with full throttle. He leaves a very lucky impression in us. Therefore our recommendation to all owners of canaries: Turn the sound on and click here.

Jippiih! Today we received approval for the legendary Fliewatüüt license plate FWT. That means:
For non-pilots: D - stands for Germany, M - stands for the ultralight class (up to 450 kg), and FWT actually stands for FlieWaTüüt (or FriendlyWay Terminal, more info ...). The Fliewatüüt is near completion and will be ready soon. Only few more little things need to be installed, like the transponder | |

The medical airworthiness certificate ( "medical") of Andreas expires on March 1st 2009. Fortunately, we had an appointment in time for a flight surgeon agreed. Andreas cycled the 11 miles to the practice (quote: "... keeps fit"). Above the door there was an impressive sign installed: Air Force medical examination center of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the medical office they knew of his appointment and he was referred to the waiting room. He waited, and he waited. Finally he moved into the waiting area in front of the treatment room. And he waited again. Left and right of him sat other patients coughing - obviously badly in need of a doctor. And again he waited. Finally, he was asked in: "Well, what do you want?". "I hope nothing," said Andreas, "but my medical ... I wanted to extend it, you know ...". "Medical? Sorry, but we no longer do medical… any more for many years," said the doctor. "Did no one inform you?" No, nobody did. So Andreas cycled 11 km back home - to stay fit.

Today we have received the first pictures of our gyrocopter. The gyrocopter has already the pole for the rotor and the tail fin. For this journey an extra oil cooler will be attached. Furthermore, the new gyrocopter has an extra-lightweight carbon housing. This enables us to save about 15 kg of take-off weight. Although we have flown with a red gyrocopter originally, we have decided for a white one. A real airplane must simply be white.

First impressions of the gyrocopter in the manufactory - the James´Flight gyrocopter .
